get out of debt
Justin asked:

I know we are around 13 trillion dollars in debt. But, I want to know, how can we get out of it? How long will it take? Also, when we do get out of it, what will we invest into? Will it be technology, immigration, energy, education, etc. Why are we in so much debt?

Face on Fire asked:

My In-Laws are planning to move back to the Philippines next year and walk away from their house, cars and credit card debt. However their “plan” is to live off their retirement that they will be getting from Social Security and what they acquired while working for the Post Office.

Can they get away with that? Im not a lawyer but this doesn’t sound right to me. They seem to think it wont be an issue and they checks will continue to come.

Joe asked:

How much would it cost, per American over the age of 21, to donate in order to get us out of national debt? I figured if we could all just donate 10 or 20 dollars completely dedicated to the debt, just maybe that would get us out of the mess. Im sure its much more complicated than this, but sometimes it takes the people to fix things.
Or I could just **** at math and it could be some ridiculous number like $50,000 each. And Im not pro taxes or anything, Just pro-the people fixing things the government screwed up. lol

Jesse G asked:

I’m a 24 year old college graduate. I had some rough patches with work this year. Got a new job in January, then took what I thought would be a better job, totally got screwed over, my previous job took me back part-time. I finally got a full-time position and a promotion with a raise after my 3-month evaluation period is up.

I’ve already filed for forbearance on some of my student loans, but I’m supposed to start paying those back soon. I have about $2,000 or so in credit cards which happened to be maxed out. Most of the charges on those were to help me pay bills, not on toys. My car payment is a month behind. My cell phone bill is a couple of months behind. Car insurance has just taken my bank account negative.

I’ve tried cutting out all the expenses I can. Every week I’m selling stuff on craigslist to help me with money. I’m running out of stuff to sell…

I don’t know what to do… I want to try to get out of debt and back on track. I can’t cut anything else out unless I want to not eat or not put gas in my car which I need to get to work.

My job is about as good as they come in this area (which unfortunately isn’t very much). I’m trying to save up so I can move to a bigger city and make more money, but I’ll never save up any money at this rate. My parents are in no financial situation to help me out either. I feel like I’m going to be a poor pathetic person for the rest of my life. I make slightly too much money to get any help from the government as well…

Any suggestions on how I can get my bills under control and start getting out of the red and into the black?

Kayla asked:

My car was towed by the police after I was convicted of a DWI but was NOT charged with one. I couldn’t pay to get it out so after a period of time they sold it! All my money went towards the Lawyer and now i have Debt with out a car. So how do I settle with the Bank?
Ok I told the Bank when they towed the car. That I couldn’t get it out. They told me that they couldn’t do any thing about it. If they repossessed it then why would I still have to pay if they got their car back. Which I know that they didn’t repo it cause they told me they sold it in a auction.

I’m eighteen and good at math. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean I can get her out of debt– however, she has been sinking further and further and I’ve decided it’s time someone else looked at her options, financially. I’m quite sure anyone is better than my mother with money. I need suggestions as to what to look at– serious advice only, please.
