@Jaimie – obviously, you have no idea of the difference between the deficit and national debt. The “budget deficit” under Bush was a complete lie. He never put the wars into the budget, so it looked like his deficit was much less than it really was! He doubled the national debt during his administration, helped out by a Republican congress for most of his tenure. Reagan did the same thing.
