Throughout human history why have lower class people accepted being slaves to the rich and powerful?
I can’t understand how slavery ever existed — the only way you can be a slave is if you ALLOW the other person to make you a slave.
IMO there is more honor in death than in accepting that kind of degrading treatment every day.
Even right now although I live in a “free” country I feel like a bit of a slave to the rich and powerful. Paying to go to college when it should be free — then having to work like a slave to get out of debt. Then get a job where I will start off with a low entry level salary that gets taxed, and be a good little worker bee to make the people in charge more wealthy.
Why don’t the people in this country realize that the DUMB outnumber the SMART and if we want we can just stop working and demand an equal share for less important work
So a garbage man will make as much as a doctor — and if they don’t like it too bad they are outnumbered. Basically a REVERSE Atlas Shrugged — where we make the rich and powerful the slaves for the less talented.
Also called Socialism, Communism, etc. The Working Class will always outnumber the RICH —- why not make them the bitches?
Oh and the counterpoint of “Well then nobody would be a doctor” is easily fixable. The TAX dollars we spend should go to PUBLIC Colleges, Public Law School, Public Medical School, etc.
This means that the most intelligent people can still do these intellectually stimulating jobs without having to worry about paying off any major debt, thus eliminating the reasoning that they NEED to make more $$ to pay off debt.
And trust me even though the people flipping burgers make just as much money in this scenario, the smartest people would still want o be docotrs/lawyers because they want to a job that requires intellectual thought

today she mailed out a letter to warren buffett. to get out of 18k debt.
is this wrong? your thoughts?
She works 2 jobs totaling 58 hrs a week, I still think it’s creepy though.

it’s like reaching a pinnacle or mountain top or even winning a Grammy. at at that point, you are at the top. so the question is, what does that open the door to and where should a person that achieves such a milestone and groundbreaking achievement divert their focus to or put a lot of energy of their focus on?

Postage is rising again today, and each day the gasoline price tag has changed. Not to mention almost all food products have risen in prices or are about to. Truckers are protesting, no one is able to make a living out there. I read (a couple days ago) how people are giving up their pets because they can’t feed the pet and the family both any more. I want to know how are YOU making sure your family is fed and you get to work (not to mention pay them horrendous natural gas prices plus other bills).

I mean its not my house, its my Father’s & family, but am in debt so is it better to just take thousand pounds worth of property & get it onver & done with? what are the other options or infact what is the worst that can happen if you dont pay? thanks.

I dont have any friends or family to talk to about my situation. I moved away from home to go to college in another state. My whole life I’ve been pretty sheltered, so I dont have a lot of life skills to know how to live on my on. I ended up moving out of my dorm at the end of the school year to live with my boyfriend. (Dumb I know, you dont have to tell me). And school got way too expensive to go back. I still have stafford loans that I’m struggling to pay off, and a credit card debt. Anyway…the situation is, I have a part time job that has pretty good benefits but pretty bad pay. I basically get $150 a week if that. My boyfriend just lost his job and we have to live with his friend right now until we can get back on our feet. We have a piece of crap car that barely runs and doesnt have air conditioning. It just seems like we cant get a break. We’ve tried working and saving up money so much so that we can get our own place and work towards a better life. But the thing is I really dont know how to do anything that would help me right now…I dont know how to fix my debt (or rather, I dont have the means to), I dont know how to fix my car, I dont know how to set up a doctor’s appt, I dont know how to live frugally, I dont know how to set up a budget, I dont know how to plan for the future, I dont know how to really save money well, and I dont know how to not get stressed out by all of this. I also dont have any family to help me out at all. So what actions should I take in a situation like this? I really want to get out and start living a better life, but it just seems like something always gets in our way
I feel like I’ve completely wasted the last two years of my life and I just dont know how to make it any better. I just want to live a happy life.
