get out of debt
Nyema asked:

I owe a debt to one of those payday loan companies, but as of recwere deemed illegal to have in my state of North Carolina. No one in this state can operate one of those types of businesses, so my question is, what happpens to the debt that I owed them?

Most probably you will get an “official” letter requesting/demanding that you pay your debt. If the letter arrives months later, it may demand additional interest charges.
