If the government took away welfare, would that help us come out of debt faster?

Our country is so in debt right now, if they stopped giving welfare to people who don’t deserve it then wouldn’t that help the u.s come out of debt at all?
well i know social security and medical care is a must, but everyone knows people who can work but just use the goverment to get money, i trying to say that the goverment should take welfare more seriously and only only give it to people who truly need it. not just to anyone.
maybe get a job and go to college and you won’t have a problem.

You do realize that the amount being given to coorporate welfare is MUCH more than the amount given to individuals. We’re talking billions more.
So it’s okay to give money to the poor oil companies because they need it, but it’s horrible to help out families who are trying (and working), but just cannot making a living.
I do see the point that there are a few people who are able to work, but don’t even try to get a job because they don’t want to, they want to collect welfare. I also, think that’s horrible and a drain on our resources.
I hope all of you who **** people on welfare, also **** those who are receiving WIC and EIC because both of those are welfare as well.

yeah I agree they need to be more picky with welfare too…kick you off if you aren’t working towards independence.
Anyways, when a welfare case is open, so is a child support case so they money canget paid back…so this means the government doesn’t pay too much to welfare. Welfare is only 0.6%of the federal budget, so maning it wouldn’t save us that much
